Discover How To Create Your Own Video From Initial Concept To Final Edit.


Develop skills and an interest for the creative use of video technologies. Using the tools of Ipads and apps, students will learn to convey emotion, movement, and story through video. They will cover topics such as speaking on camera, choreography, metaphor, poetry, and animation. The course will have a strong focus on creative applications beyond filmmaking including those of creative problem-solving and story-telling, writing, movement, and developing creative confidence.

At the end of the course, student will be able to:

  • Familiarization with video technologies and their creative applications.

  • Discover editing, animation, experimental video and choreography on screen.

  • Develop a well-rounded creative approach beyond filmmaking including writing, visualization, using poetic imagery, and applying technology to creative uses.

Eva Pekárová originates from Piešťany, Slovakia and works in Vancouver, BC as a practicing interdisciplinary filmmaker, animator and media artist. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts majoring in Film, Video and Integrated Media from Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Eva's work spans from music production and scoring, to stop-motion animation. She is passionate about the various uses of film to tell a story in non-conventional ways and exploring the surprising emotional poetry that can arise. Her 16mm film “Zmena: Medzi Dvoma Svetmi” premiered at the Cinematheque in “The Image Before Us” curation screening, and is showing at the Portland Underground Film Festival in January 2020. She has performed her music compositions at the Lincoln Centre, New York City after winning the International Composers Competition, and has writing (“White Swans and Gunshots”) published in short-story anthologies.
